Construction Labourer

Job Description

We are looking for a crew of efficient, safety-minded people to aid our organization in our construction development.

Shanghai Construction Group Canada Corporation is a Construction Company for underground Tunneling. We are now hiring for a Construction Laborer in Edmonton, AB.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with construction site setup and preparation activities
  • Support launching shaft construction, including assisting subcontractors with secant pile work
  • Perform general labour tasks such as site cleaning, material handling, and equipment support
  • Act as a flag person to guide traffic and equipment safely on site
  • Assist with tunneling operations, including:
    • Supporting mud plant setup and monitoring fluid levels
    • Mixing drilling fluids when required
    • Assisting with pipe changes and connecting/disconnecting cables and lines
  • Support crane and rigging operations, including signaling and securing loads
  • Assist excavator operators with soil removal and backfilling activities
  • Support retrieval shaft construction, including liner plate installation and grouting
  • Assist with installation of manholes and backfilling using specialized materials (e.g., Fillcrete)
  • Participate in demolition and site restoration activities
  • Install and remove construction mats as required
  • Follow all safety procedures and complete hazard assessments (e.g., FLHA)
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times
  • Be willing to work evenings, weekends, and overtime when necessary (8-12 hour shifts; 5-6 days a week).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Safety tickets: Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry and Monitoring and H2S Alive, CSTS, WHMIS
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills
  • Experience with working underground and/or tunneling would be an asset
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment medical and drug screening

Compensation:

Negotiable depending on experience

  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
