Excavator Operator

Job Description

We are looking for a crew of efficient, safety-minded people to aid our organization in our construction development.

Shanghai Construction Group Canada Corporation is a Construction Company for Building and Tunneling. We are now hiring Excavator Operators for the Tunneling Division, located in Edmonton Alberta.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Safely and efficiently operate excavators including CAT 308 and CAT 320D models in support of trenchless and civil construction activities
  • Operate additional equipment attachments and support equipment including skid steer attachments/bits and Zoom Boom telehandlers
  • Perform excavation work within shafts and other confined space environments while following all applicable confined space entry procedures and safety requirements
  • Climb ladders and access shafts safely as required for operations
  • Conduct pre-operational mechanical and safety inspections on equipment and report maintenance or repair requirements promptly
  • Maintain awareness of underground utilities, ground conditions, and surrounding personnel while operating heavy equipment
  • Complete daily production reports, equipment inspection logs, timekeeping, and other required documentation
  • Work evenings, weekends, and overtime as required (8–12-hour shifts; 5–7 days per week)
  • Demonstrate communication skills and maintain professional communication with supervisors, co-workers, subcontractors, and site personnel
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with company policies, project requirements, and all applicable health and safety regulations

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience operating excavator in a professional capacity
  • Candidates with open trench experience will be given first consideration
  • Experience with Zoom Boom operation is an asset
  • Able to pass pre-employment Alcohol and Drug Test
  • Heavy equipment operators’ ticket, and ground disturbance ticket are an asset
  • Fall Pro, CSE, H2S Alive, CSTS, WHMIS and other safety tickets are assets
